Moon Phenomena by Artist/Blogger Sophie Cox-O'Shaughnessy

My basic camera phone photo with full zoom in:

Preston, Lancashire

At least you can zoom in on the zoomed in pic. also!

However, I like the dot effect of the various other urban lights as well as the slightly blurry effect - reminds me of the painters impressionist era.

The article in the news today expanded upon my fortunate sighting. Usually we get these natural phenomena news stories well in advance, then, some, people remember, some set the alarm and some even camp out to stargaze etc..

What with all the political action, at the moment, here in the UK (maybe that was the reason there weren't any articles about this second supermoon thus year recently!) are we going to have a new and improved government soon? Or, will it merely be the case of them passing the buck?!

"Hot Off The Press" by Sophie Cox-O'Shaughnessy

*********Quite literally hot off the press!*********

Just call me a modern day hero! And here I am with my Superdog too!

Only joking, these guys are the real heroes: the fire service and the police. For without their quick response and action tonight's story could have become a very different tail - pun intended!

However, yes my Superdog sniffed out a load of youth were up to no good obviously and when I saw them climbing the scaffolding and enter a derelict and highly likely dangerous building we were concerned for their safety and called 101.

Little did I suspect that 5/10 minutes later they would be potentially committing arson: When we saw the smoke coming from the building and the group of about 15 teenagers scattering, we called the fire brigade.

I only came out this evening to top up on my vit. D sunshine and walk my dog again although my superdog's senses must have known there was going to be trouble in the air.

The drama caused me stress, particularly, because recently there have been at least a few fires in the Preston city centre that have caused immense damage.

There could have been someone trapped in the building, it could have spread and taken hold as alot of the windows were boarded up and there is a wooded area nearby. No matter kids protesting as they run off "Oh we put it out, it's out now!" I know if superdog and I hadn't made the call straight away it could have been another terrible fire etc..

As my reward for doing my good deed for the day I could not resist asking two hunky firemen for a photo who kindly obliged. Wayne and Chris (see photo) are just two of the crew who turned up straight away and averted disaster with their quick responsive action.

No doubt the story will be in the "real" news however as I shared I quite often write about local issues I got permission from the fire crew to possibly include the incident for my blog.

Now for a cup of tea for me to relieve the stress and extra treats for my super dog!

Of course, still honouring the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Though, apparently, you can still go for a Jubilee (Street) Lunch all of June, and this year, or something.

That rocks!

Anyway, royal blue leotards in our dancing school, were standard, back in the day!

**** It's been a few months now and I feel like I'm getting in to my stride. It's not something I really ever envisioned I would find myself involved with*, however, with my always happy to help motto, it seems now like a natural progression in the course of things as regards to careers pursuit, so to speak.

Here, I am, assessing "the damage": in the video you can see me sat on a gym ball assessing the (possible) crew for dance sessions and/or maybe calling for back up!

Since then, I'm relieved to say, the group and individuals have engaged and embraced dance as another form of fitness and realise dance can actually be fun also.

*In Preston, this year, unfortunately, there was so much local banning of kids due to anti-social behaviour etc., but also an apparent empty youth club in the town centre that left me wondering why?! these kids have nowhere to go I sought to network with local PCSOs and Councillors and found myself, at a local community centre, at a Talk advocating Anti-Knife Crime.

Bit of a 'woos', I only ever really watch rom-com, action movies etc., I'm not ashamed, however, to say, at the least, I found it a tad challenging. Regardless, I honoured the bravery of the speaker and continued to offer my services with my skills in performance art.

I look forward to providing more sessions facilitating the chance to learn dance within this gym/youth club set up.

Thank you to the owners/share holders and manager at the the youth club in the gym, Smart Fitness.

Happy Queens Jubilee AND ALL THAT! By Sophie Cox-O'Shaughnessy

UPDATE

Now, it's the weekend of the Jubilee!

Who else thought the aerial display, in particular the numeral formation representing the Queen's 70 year reign, was awesome following the Trooping of the Colours processions!

This has reminded me, in the pic. (*) of me in my two-piece: mid-drif and trouser suit I am also sporting, albeit on a white and translucent background, all the colours (of the rainbow)!

However, just to clarify, I wasn't gay then, neither am I now.

I hope the rest of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations are also just as bright as this most beautiful refractions of ray of light as well!

Once Upon A Time,...

Here I am, preparing to celebrate, as I made a promise to the Queen, gazing in the mirror on the floor in the Brownies/Girl Guides, of my primary school and parish, hall,..

however, as life goes on, before then, it is this: again, this date, etched in my eternal, body, memory:- 09/05/1997!

Southport, Lancashire/Merseyside, beach ((1997) scratch mittens - any mother knows these are a must; my rainbow suit (mid-drif and trousers) courtesy of my step-dad. Thanks to a fellow single mum for the photo.

Despite circumstances'beyond my control,

"I'm okay, I really am!"

why, only 25 years ago I had given 36 hours of my life providing a new life bringing it into this world

surviving domestic violence, surviving parental alienation, etc., yes, this is Sophie's choice and musician, dancer, creator: choreographer/composer and by no means least, mother, I am proud, yes, like 'Proud Mary', my late mother, God rest her soul, Brenda (Mary) Cox, I'm proud that I dedicated to upbringing a soul, married or not, as it were, not, so what, I chose my son, Jerome Thomas James whom I wish all the happiness in the world on this day and for the future.

Don't underestimate the power of God, the belief in one.

For if one partner doesn't believe, there ought to be respect, regardless of solicitors/'government' workers etc. opinions, no matter the age of a religion.

And, yes, it may not be via a recognised route, police/army/navy etc , however, I shall continue to Do My Best To Serve The Queen, To Do My Duty Etc..

Yes, once upon a time, I facilitated my son's football hobby, as (the only) lone parent, for six years, at Preston Sports arena, (UCLan), etc..

Haven't really ever spoken about this before, cos I'm a shy girl, but to help others, also, I'm prepared to Speak Up!

Forever thankful for my "jellytots", hey, what's the option of breastfeeding without any sacrifice, and one bigger than the other, it's quite common from breastfeeding experience so I've heard, don't blame my son, though, I reasserted and got (more or less) bigger and better #Self-esteemCounts!

I give thanks for local charity counselling services, counselling services (in general), the NHS counselling service, volunteering opportunities and experiences to make a difference, the support of friends and family (whether sought or, directly, given or not), the life skills I have learnt along the way, including:- dance, art, music, horse-riding/therapy, banter with my neighbours and local servers (when I get my necessities, shopping), LIFE (Catholic charity Pro Life) for general support, my pregnancy test and gift of a cot, Southport Technical College (for employing me, as a pregnant Life Model (more curves, maybe, more interesting for art students) so, as a single mum, I could save up and buy a pram for my baby Etc., etc..

As a popular, recent(ish) track, (being on the theme and story of Rasputin) it's always good to have fantastic tunes for any "Destination Fitness" regime, for example.

My Mum always encouraged my dancing and made numerous costumes for me for Festivals, Competitions and Shows willingly as well as my dressing well.
