Sophie Cox-O'Shaughnessy - bicentenary birth of Baha'u'llah celebration gig event

As part of the celebrations of the bicentenary of the birth of Baha'u'llah that have been being celebrated world wide I volunteered to participate at the musical aspect of the event here in Preston, Lancashire.

I prepared a short musical quiz and mini music recital on flute.  As part of the devotional aspect to the programme I played my melody harp as accompaniment to prayer.

Unfortunately, there was alot more else to fit in into the evening, so I didn't get to present all of the mini-recital, however, I did manage to squeeze in two pieces on the flute.  I did not want to play any more as the flute is not my first instrument and therefore is not to be rushed, but more importantly I did not wish to upset the organisers of the event who wished to play a video.

I consider it was an honour to contribute to the event.

These celebratory cakes depict the Shrines in Haifa and Bahji in Israel that I have been very fortunate to visit.

Whilst a student at UCLan I was able to serve on the Inter-Faith Forum as an Assistant when it first started up in Preston

I think it's important, whatever denomination you are, or even if you are non-religious or just like to pray/mediate to aim to tolerate the beliefs of others, particularly when there are such atrocious occurrences in the world as we are aware of in the media today
